In-context translation

Edit a string where it appears#

1. Open the application with Tolgee’s tools available.
2. Hold ALT on Windows/Linux or Option on macOS.
3. Click the translated element.
4. Edit the translation in the dialog.

Output: the selected string is identified in the place where it appears, so the translator can review its UI context before saving.

Capture context with a screenshot#

The public repository describes a camera action after selecting a string with ALT/Option-click. Use it when visual context helps a reviewer understand the phrase.

Translate production interfaces#

Tolgee’s public repository says in-context translation can work in a deployed production environment with the Tolgee Tools Chrome plugin. Follow the current official in-context translation guide for the supported setup and security model.
